United States buyers commonly use the word “sheave” as well as “pulley”. North American narrow-belt systems may use 3V/5V/8V terminology, while imported European equipment can still require SPZ/SPA/SPB/SPC pulleys. The replacement task therefore starts with the machine’s actual belt and groove system.
For imported European machinery, record the existing belt marking, groove count, shaft diameter and pulley dimensions before searching by “sheave” size. A familiar diameter does not prove that two profile standards are interchangeable.

Terminology and standards context
Searches may use “V-belt sheave”, but the RFQ should still state the exact belt section. Where the machine uses a North American profile, provide that marking rather than assuming an SPA profile is a direct substitute.
Replacement workflow
1. Confirm the belt section
Read the marking on the existing belt or machine drawing. SPA, SPZ, SPB and SPC use different groove geometries.
2. Confirm the required ratio
Use the pitch/datum diameters, not the outside diameters, when checking driver and driven speed.
3. Choose the groove count
The groove count affects power capacity, axial width and the number of matched belts in the drive.
4. Match the shaft interface
Check shaft diameter, keyway and the recommended taper-bush designation for the exact row.
5. Check the machine envelope
Compare outside diameter and axial dimensions with the guard, bearings and adjacent components.
6. Record the RFQ details
Send the model or measurements, speeds, shaft, application and any drawing/replacement reference.
